Anyone has a right to hate anything. Just because her fear is irrational and unreasoned, doesn't make it any less terrifying for her. Some people are more succeptible to fear and loathing, particularly if they've suffered an severe trauma resulting from the use of an object. Which is why I don't judge her individual situation. I simply judge her ethics, based on her position as a lawmaker.

Of course anyone can hate anything but based on her experience there is no justification to hate guns in general, I have a right to hate ice but to say after i slipped on an icy sidewalk i am totally justified in hating it is simplistic at best. In her case she would be justified in hating criminals because thats what took her family but not guns because that was the tool they used to kill him or lead because the bullet was made from it or brass because of the shell casing. We shouldnt even give any credibility to the claim that someone can hate guns because they lost a loved one to them. I dont hate steel pipes and my grandpa was murdered wit one, nor do i hate vacuum cleaner cords because my cousin was hung with one by some bikers nor do i hate steel toed boots because my other grandpa was murdered with a few kicks to the head from someone wearing them.

We had to know it was coming; hope this isn't a repost:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20027986-503544.html

Democratic Rep. Carolyn McCarthy of New York plans to introduce legislation in the coming days that would limit access to the type of weaponry used to gun down Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D) and 19 other people.

McCarthy today will officially announce she is working on a bill targeting the high-capacity ammunition clips the gunman allegedly used in the shooting, as Politico first reported.

"My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow," she told Politico.

And then there's this gem:

Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Robert Brady of Pennsylvania plans to introduce a bill to make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a member of Congress or federal official, CNN reports.

And who determines that?

Buy mags and guns while you can. They'll damned sure be a better investment than most anything else.

Feel free to argue semantics with her. Let me know how that works out for you. In the meantime, we need someone on the pro-gun side to marginalize her with logic. Letting her use her fragile emotions as a weapon against our 2A rights needs to be stopped. :(

“The ability to buy a weapon that fires hundreds of bullets in less than a minute,” said Quigley. “He had an additional magazine capability. That’s not what a hunter needs. That’s not what someone needs to defend their home. That’s what you use to hunt people.”

-Rep. Mike Quigley

Hey Mr Quigley, what part of the second amendment was created for the intention of hunting? Your reading comprehension SUCKS!

As long as you have women in politics, you're gonna have emotion-based, knee-jerk legislation.

There, I said it.

Exactly, so we need to quit letting her use her misfortune as a reason to hate guns. We can start by not saying she is justified or has a right to hate guns because of what happened to her family.

Marginalizing them with logic will never be done as long as they have control of the media. The logic is out there but if it is silenced through the media then it doesnt matter. They are only able to marginalize us with their control of the media thats why they are blaming Palin, Glenn Beck, Fox News and anyone else on the right.

But hey now everyone has the right to hate guns since one of our representatives has been seriously injured by one. And hate knives, cars, airplanes, baseball bats.......

If we ever get into this kids head..... I think it's a little ironic that a socialist would shoot a moderate politician for not being "left" enough. The liberal media has already begun to shift the spotlight away from this guys mental illness and put the attention on his hardware.

I applaude that woman who wrested the extra mag away... but the mainstream media has ignored the fact at least on of the men who helped detain this shooter was legally armed (CNN talked to him)... but his gun did not come into play.

Boil this one down... guns dont kill- people do
