So how did those rifles get to Korea? Purchase or aid? If it was aid, it ain't right to pay for something that gave away for free.

I think I heard that they were given to them with a string attached that they couldn't ever sell them in the future. So I'm thinking that means they have to GIVE them back to us. And it's no wonder that Nobama and Hillary don't want them back simply because CMP might get ahold of them. I might be off base but something like that.

While in some vein I agree with this, when you give something to someone it's there's to do with as they wish unless there was some sort of agreement.

Given the time in history, I doubt there was much discussion on what was to happen to the rifles when technology rendered them less than necessary to the ROK.

If the US gave away rifles, whether it was free or not, it was because it was in our best interests to have those rifles over there.

If you guys saw how much we gave to the allies during WW2 under Lend-Lease, and how much they paid us back, and how much we forgave, youd all be hoppin mad. The UK only just paid us off in 2006.

The UK just paid us our last

they said in the article IIRC that there wasnt any 1911's. And if you dont want a garand after watching grand torino or any WWII movie there is something wrong with you lol j/k

:p If it goes thru, the article said it may open the gates for other imports, including 1911s. Lol I read it too.:thumbup3:

I wouldnt buy an M1, but if they got thru, Id definitely be purchasing some milsurp 1911s.

You would probably want to buy an M-1 if you ever had the chance to shoot one out to 1000 yards on steel silhouettes, like we did last weekend at Grandfield!

Maybe I misread this, but didn't we "give" them the M1's? And now they want to sell them to us....Seems kind of strange to me. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The Koreans aren't wanting to sell them to the same entity they got them from (the U.S. national government)... they are wanting to sell them to private companies in the U.S. like Sarco or Century Arms.

These would most likely not be going to the CMP.
