Wow. Thanx to all, alot of great info and moral boost.

I am leaning towards mortuary sciences and the possibility of going into the funeral profession,or funerary arts. I dont just want to get the paper just to say I did it. I hope it didnt sound like that in my OP. I actually want to do something different with my life as I get older. Not too many over 40 year old metal guitar players out there, and working in the music business in some other capacity is possible but I am actually just getting a little burned out on the rock n roll lifestyle after more than 20 years at it and want a change. I just hope I dont scare people as a heavily tattooed and pierced funeral worker. Actually with more people getting heavily tattooed and pierced I may be able to work with a section of the business the other homes dont directly market to.

Via PM Ive been directed to ECO in Edmond that has Oklahomas only mortuary sciences school and it is apparently highly regarded in the field. Thanx again to the person who directed me to the school.

And thanx for all of the responses.

UCO, Edmond, does have a great mortuary school. Don't know how hard it is to get into the profession.

I'm voting for going to actual class rather than online courses.

That way you can be the older dude with all the hot college chicks ;)

Yeah, man. That's where all the girls are, right?

But on the other hand, man, I just as soon be working. Keep a little change in my pocket. Rather than spend my time listening to some dipsh*t who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about anyway.

There is some pretty stiff competition, but you can make a killing. If you're good, you'll literally having customers dying to get in.

When I was in school about 8 years ago, there were about 20% of my classmates over 35 and about 10% over 60. When I was working on my MBA, those numbers went up a bit.

If you want to go back to school, go do it. If you want your family to quit giving you grief and you have the time and money plus a little inclination, then go do it. If you don't want to do it, then don't - it sounds like you've done well with what you've got.

For what it's worth, I actually went to school for a couple of semesters with my Mom. She was working on finishing up her nursing degree (to be an RN) while I was an undergrad. We'd catch up sometimes between classes and grab a bite. There was a 60-something year old gal that I was in class with that worked the floor at the plant I was a co-op at.

There was a guy was probably in his 80s or 90s that was in a class of mine as well - cool guy. Age didn't matter then, most of the 'old folk' were cool people. :)

Edit: Be careful of the school you pick though... That one place in Norman is weird..... Pretty sure there's something in the water....
