Been toying with the idea of a shooting mat,,,

Well I'm glad that I hesitated until this morning to order a mat,,,
I decided to give Amazon one more look,,,
And I found a mat I believe will work.

It's 74" long, 43" wide, and has 8mm of padding,,,
That's the closest one to what I had in mind.

I had thought maybe a camping sleeping pad would suffice,,,
I searched for them and found 8mm was the norm for these pads,,,
So I decided that if 8mm was all I could find in a shooting mat, that would be fine.

But the 43" width was what really sold me.

At just under $75 shipped,,,
It's pricier than I wanted to find,,,
But it dawned on me I have Amazon Prime,,,
If I get it and don't like it, the cost of returning it is nothing.

So I whipped out the old MasterCard and it should be here by the 10th,,,
I'll post pics of the real thing when it comes in.

That looks awesome. Another bonus (if you wind up on the ground) is they help keep you dry, and cut down on chiggers in the summertime.

Vary true. Plus you always have a clean place to lie down and set you rounds down on. They are worth the money.

Tarp and inflatable mattress. Can shoot then nap.

The shooting mat came in today,,,
It's wider than I thought it would be.

That's a good thing.

The picture on Amazon warped the perspective,,,

I thought it would taper in width towards the feet end,,,
But aside from the wide wings it's a rectangle front to rear.

Here's what it looks like on my floor.

As you can see, my cat (Jamie Lee Catus) immediately claimed it for her own,,,
The padding isn't as thick as I would like it to be,,,
But I think it will be sufficient for my old bones.

A bit pricey at $75.00 but all the $40.00 ones were too narrow for my needs.

One thing is that the pockets towards the front are very small,,,
But there is a zippered pocket at the foot end,,,
It's plenty wide enough to hold stake pins.

All in all I'm happy with the purchase,,,
Now I'm just waiting for Spring,,,
Too danged cold now.
