Mark does have a point but he assumes that if we don't go to a gun show we will go I gun shops instead. Not in my case, I really don't have I go to shows that often. Sometimes I actually shoot guns instead of shop for them. I pick an choose what shows to go to and I goose not to go to Metcalf shows. Metcalf shows used to be a given for me, I went to all of them.

Mark,

I don't base my attendance to a gun show or gun shop based on your type of logic.

I spend my gun money where I know my business is appreciated, and I am not treated like a sucker from some greedy a$$ hole.

I used to attend all guns shows in the OKC Metro area.

I will no longer attend Metcalf shows because he has proven to be just another greedy jerk who thinks that everyone should bow down to the gunshow god that he thinks he is.

I decided that before his true colors were shown here, or through recent posts about him.

I based my decision on personal experience, and his response to my e-mails.

Therefore, I do not spend my money at those type of gun shows, and many gun shops I have been to that have the same attitude.

I have only bought two guns ever at local shops, because of the lack of customer respect shown by many gun shop owners.

I do not consider myself an internet guru, or a sheeple, thank you very much.

Just my thinking, so stay with me on this one.

I don't think anybody on this forum has a problem with any vendor at a metcalf show that sells outdoor related gear.
They go to a gun show to see guns, knives, and other related equipment.
If I'm not wrong, the main issue is metcalfs arrogance and attitude that has turned most off.

The vendors at these shows are there to make a living, and I can see why they are there. The gun shop in a small town may not generate much traffic, but the gun shows have thousands of folks walk by their tables. It may very well be the thing that keeps them in business. The flea market tables are not acceptable in my opinion at a gun show, but its an attempt to sell more tables to increase revenue of the promoter.

Unless I'm in a socialist country, making money on your business is acceptable in this society. Don't like it, don't go.
Personally I won't go, because of the attitude of metcalf, but I have sympathy with the vendors that are there.
I do hope they flock to the new promoters.

BTW if $12 is going to be a criteria to not attend a show, your finances need a total rebuild.

Thank you!

The Tulsa show is in the lower half of the Expo building this weekend, it's not full but from what we could tell when we were setting up there are a lot of guns and accessories at the show. $12 sucks, but so does $3.00 gasoline, $10.00 movies, $100 cell phone bills.

If I'm in the market for something I like going to shows, and I still think its fun just to look at stuff, talk to folks, or see what I can trade. Metcalfe and RK are decent enough size for me to make the trip, I don't really care who owns the show, I didn't come to talk to them anyway.

I haven't been to a Superdave show yet and am looking forward to attending next weekend. $6 wins over $12, plus I've heard a lot of praise on here about his shows so that will be the one I go to.

Just an comment, or maybe a question.

Next time you go to a gun show like Sooner, R&K, or Metcalf, count how many vendors are there that have guns on the table to sell, or ammo to sell, or knifes to sell, we are not talking about if they have guns, ammo or knifes that you are wanting to purchase, we are talking about anyone that has a table or Island and have any guns, ammo and knifes on their table to purchase.

Now take that number and figure how much it would cost you in gas, wear and tear on your vehicle and your time to go to that many gun shops, this is not taking into consideration that some of these vendors have stores in far away towns you would not take the time to go to, just to look.

I am sure you would spend more than the price of a $12. ticket. Gas, wear and tear on your vehicle does not give discounts or is free to LE, FD, or anyone else, unless you have a company car and you are cheating your company by using it for personal business.

Next time you read some statement written by a self proclaimed internet guru, about how he will not go to this show or any other, because of this, or that, just remember chances are this person never went to shows to begin with and just likes to stir the pot.

As I have said before, don't be a sheep and do what you read the vocal ones tell you to do, if you want to go to a show, do it, and don't ask how many people are going just to get a reaction.

With good local stores here and the internet I have to ask the promotor and vendors....... why should we pay $12? Lately, of all the shows I've seen it's better to go to the brick and mortar stores due to better selection AND prices. Didn't used to be that way. I'm all for supporting local vendors across the state. I just shouldn't have to pay $12 when it's not necessary and especially when you walk in the door and there's so much junk in addition maybe 3 or 4 good vendors. I'll also say this.... why do big out of state vendors no longer come to Oklahoma shows? If some large promotors had half a brain they'd be trying to get some of these guys from out of state that you see at the Wannenmacher. THEN maybe I'll pay more, but otherwise..... why?

BTW if $12 is going to be a criteria to not attend a show, your finances need a total rebuild.

Not necessarily. It's a matter of why pay the higher prices to get to see the same guy trying to pawn off that used 2nd gen glock for $650 on someone week after week, while his wife tries to sell you a set of Elvis collector dinner plates.
