Brake Cleaner for Firearms?

Brake and Carb cleaners will remove all oil. You also have to be careful as some types will damage the finish on a wood stock and/or eat away at a plastic one.

Mark Novak just did a new Anvil and while he uses brake cleaner, it is specifically for removing all oil prior to conserving the finish on the metal.

It will harm some finishes/coatings. Use at your own risk.

This ^^^^. Also, will never use WD 40 on nickel finishes. Took Flitz to get the funk off...

It has its uses and for degreasing an already clean firearm or firearm parts it’s great. Also good for degreasing glock frames prior to coating them
