It is owned by Community Publishers Incorporated, which was started by one of Sam Walton's (Walmart) sons.

In June of 1982, CPI purchased their first newspaper, The Benton County Daily Democrat in Bentonville, Arkansas. Their news division has now increased to include two dailies, one twice-weekly, 16 weeklies, one shopper, and one business one business newspaper for communities located in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
