I was under the impression that the OP wanted a specific brand of Sloe Gin. I know from experience there are several varieties of Spirits that just are not available to distributors in Oklahoma.

He didn't mention a specific brand. And yes, there are several brands that don't ship to Oklahoma distributors for various reasons, as well as a few (very few) kinds of spirits and liquors and other beverages that are not allowed in Oklahoma.

But I've also gotten the "our distributor(s) can't get that in Oklahoma" excuse from many liquor stores when I wanted to special order something, so I figured I'd throw that out there. It's a great way to pass the blame off of the establishment itself.

After reading the original post again you are correct. I can't think of a Liquor store I shop at that hasn't had Sloe Gin, just not a lot of it.

I've gone through the order sheets and online order site with one of the Liquor stores in town and there is a lot of stuff that just isn't available for them to order. There aren't many distributors in Oklahoma so there isn't a lot of alternatives to order from. The bar I worked at in Tulsa had 2 choices to place liquor orders.

Just support your local retailer.

You can't get a number of beers and wines unless the Oklahoma monopoly wants to carry them.

Exactly, ususally they don't want to deal with more than one distributor and then claim they can get it when their particular favorite doesn't carry it.

Double thanks for this! Do you have a brand preference?

I don't drink much anymore, but in college I could go through 4-6 bottles a month easily. I recommend Vieux Pontarlier or Pernod. Pernod is pretty much the standard Absinthe is judged on, it's been around forever. To complete the experience, you need the next day off, because you're going to have a hangover that's going to require you to start drinking again the minute you wake up.

My local liquor store (who is also a web development client of mine) says he has fifths and pints of sloe gin in stock. You might give him a call. He's one of those guys that's usually willing to order almost anything. Cordell Package Store

Thanks for the heads up. I'll give him a call.

I may actually go out of my way to check the place out. I know I've checked most places here in Norman (and we have a lot of liquor stores), and they all tell me they can't get it. There will also be the advantage of circumventing the liter import law, at least legally. If I could find an in-state place, I could just get enough bottles to last a while.

As far as brand, basically I just want something that isn't utter crap. Plymouth is my choice gin, so their sloe would be nice, but I'm not especially picky. I'm sure there's many brands of sloe gin that taste better than pine-sol.

If you're ever in Yukon, feel to stop by my store and pick up some sloe gin. I carry Hiram Walker. 30 proof. Sloe gin isn;t a big mover so most of us don;t carry much but all liquor stores can get it.

FYI....Anyone shipping alcohol into OK is doing so illegally.

Yukon is definitely closer than Cordell. May have to take you up on that.

I think the illegal aspect is that most people probably know that, but it's also just a misdemeanor, if my reading of the laws is correct. It's only a felony if one of the parties is a minor. I'm apprehensive because I'm pretty law abiding (or at least try to be), and my bad luck would definitely bite me if I try to do something illegal. I'd rather not play with fire.

If you want to keep it legal, ask the liquor store to order it for you.

Some alcohols don't have representation in Oklahoma, so you may need to contact the manufacturer directly.
