neither is half the stuff you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. They are not native to Oklahoma and are very evasive. I am highly allergic to them. I ran fever for 2 days last week(cedar fever). Gets me every year. I hate those things.
That article is almost a year old, I wonder where this ended up last year?https://www.oklahoman.com/story/new...a-bill-watershed-restoration-act/70438347007/ I will try it again. sorry
Looks like it got passed "In response to these concerns, Oklahoma is bringing new legislation that will assist in eradicating Eastern red cedars from the Oklahoma North Canadian Watershed and hopefully slow the spread of red cedars across the state. House Bill 2239, also known as the Terry Peach North Canadian Watershed Restoration Act, was signed into law on Oct. 27. It was named after former Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Terry Peach, who died last year." of course it is of limited scope, hopefully they will expand it.That article is almost a year old, I wonder where this ended up last year?
Western red cedars don’t cause the same allergic response for me anyway. The eastern red cedars are Satan’s handiwork!
There are different varieties of cedar trees. Not all are ERC that is the most invasive. The problem with that is your nicely controlled fence line trees make baby trees for miles around for everyone else.
But they all serve no purpose and suck tons of water out of the ground and spread like a weedThere are different varieties of cedar trees. Not all are ERC that is the most invasive.
Some spread easily like the ERC that is an invasive species. There has been cedar trees on our places used as windbreaks planted by Great Grandpa that have never spread. What variety they are, is unknown by me anyway, but they certainly are not ERC.But they all serve no purpose and suck tons of water out of the ground and spread like a weed
