It was designed to provide max nutrition and minimum poops but the rations with lima beans worked exactly the opposite.

Steve is the man! I once watched him eat a civil war hard tack cracker. Apparently, it was rock hard and really dry. And who can forget the 19th century potted meat ration. He had to rehydrate it and managed to choke a bit of it down. Listening to his excitement when he scores a coffee & cigarette ration is what dreams are made of. That dude is awesome. Stupid, but awesome.
Have you seen the videos(one or two) when there is a ration of cordial alcohol(leave it to the Italians) in the MRE?
