This is in New York. The cops tell them it will take a minimum of half an hour for them to get there. Maybe longer.

From the article:

And then there’s Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar who tells women they don’t need guns to protect themselves from attack: “That’s why we have call boxes. That’s why we have safe zones. That’s why we have the whistles.”

Is he out of his mind?!?!!?!? :rolleyes2 Jeez ... I see he apparently thinks that it's okay for men to use some other means of protection ... like maybe ... a GUN??!?!?!!?!?

The basic mistake most people make with the gun control situation in many states is that "they" care about a common persons safety. They don't. If you are a crime victim you are nothing but an excuse for more funding or restrictive laws, depending if we are talking about police or politicians.

Response time of 30 min, that must be nice. Last time we called them it was closer to 120 min between the time the call was placed and they arrived. The police just pulled in the drive sat there for about 30 seconds and then backed out and left, never got out of the car only looked at one side of the house........ We called them because the alarm was going off.

I don't call them anymore. I've learned to just handle everything on my own. I opted out of being protected and served. Bonus, they can't write you a ticket when you opt out of their program.

I figured it was just common knowledge that you were on your own til the locals decided to roll over to your place and check things out. Not to sound paranoid or anything but my cell and CC firearm are never that far apart, or far from me for that matter.
