Flu has been with us for a couple thousand years. Covid-19 is like the new kid on the block. Maybe we should give it more time.

Maybe. But, I would think our health officials and government wouldn’t base the reaction on this line of thinking.

After thinking about it, we do have a vaccine each year for the flu which is a preemptive action (when they accurately predict the strain) and may not warrant a similar response to a new virus.
