Basically it is chili that is molded in the shape of a brick and refrigerated and it hardens into a brick of chili. That is how they package it. Growing up that is all my mom would buy. The store we bought groceries made it fresh. She would not eat can chili.

I may be too young to k ow, but what is brick chili?
Likely too young to remember at the ballparks growing up getting a Frito chili pie(small bag of Fritos cut open length wise, spoon of brick chili, grated cheddar and mustard). Mmmmmm! Yeah, I can't do canned chili like Wolf Brand or similar - too easy to make yourself.

May have to try that best enchilada sauce but generally we use dried guajillo and/or pasilla chiles for our enchiladas and such.

Just the way it's packaged. Used to actually be the size of a brick.
And it also used to be about 50% grease!

I have a Texan mother, I didn't even know fritz chili pie came in bowls til I went to college hahahaha. We'd do the same with taco meat and the original Taco Dorito's before they quit making them. Taco in a bag is also real good lol
