That's impressive! I've been hunting with a Weatherby 257 at about 3500 fps...closest I have to a laser beam.
In my opinion, you made the right decision. I try really hard to only kill does without fawns too (unless she “blows” at me)...

Yeah, it sucks gutting out a doe while the fawn stands 20 years away bleating.
This is how my duck, deer, turkey hunt went. 3 deer within 60 yards (closest was 10 yards), 40 turkeys within 50 yards 3 times and a couple of groups of ducks we didn't shoot at because we were preoccupied with turkeys or deer.
