I think this incident has created new rules about LEO and school shootings. If I remember right the new Protocol is to make entry immediately. We have some professionals on here that can confirm or correct that statement.

The new training was implemented after Columbine. At that time training was to contain the incident and wait for swat. It didn't work and new training was pushed out called ALERT.
Bcso was alert trained, but did not act according to the training due to a lack of leadership... this guy should have been happy he didnt get prosecuted and gone away....

And then there is the court decisions that LEO are not constitutionally required to protect.

Police Have No Duty to Protect

Cowards ....call them what they are.

True...But,...How can any person...stand / hide ...armed...and knowing that people...children are getting slaughtered...on the other side of that wall...

How many of you would stand and wait ...(*for your paycheck) ....Or...try your best to stop what is happening...

I would go in...least I tried to save someone. ...If.. I died...I would hope that at least someone else would be alive...least I had a fighting chance.

My (Police Officer)active shooter training was as such. Go towards gunfire, locate active shooter, take out active shooter. At least two officers would be good but if you are first on scene you go in alone and take out active shooter.

^^^This is what I heard in, not really a training class, more like a lecture... but I believe the gentleman was a TPD trainer if I remember correctly. He said active shooters typically run or shoot themselves as soon as they are confronted. So first to arrive, the protocol is to go in, find him, and kill him. That has been the protocol for a while, as I remember hearing it before.
