Discontinuation of FFL question

Trying to help an elderly friend send his bound books and 4473’s back to the ATF. We have the address to where to send them to. Should we include any kind of cover letter in the boxes that contains these records? I tried to look for this info on the ATF website and I’m befuddled.

I held off until you got a legit answer. But now I'll say what many others are also thinking.

Honestly they "should" be sent through a shredder. But that's a different conversion...

Could always spray them with liquid ass before closing up the box and sending them in.

I know this is not the right answer, but they should be destroyed by the FFL, which they cannot by law.
When one fills out a 4473, the record of that transaction is supposed to be destroyed by the government. RIIIIIIIIIIGHT. If anyone believes that they are fools.
These records will go into a data base when turned in.
