Do I really need a bolt 22LR?

Everyone needs a bolt action .22. I started my boys out on a bolt action. If they were shooting a semi-auto, they were practicing rapid fire instead of accuracy.

My current bolt action is a Ruger American that takes the 10/22 mags. Several 25 round mags for a bolt action are pretty handy.

Back foul being, it is mine! :pms2:

Seriously an early Marlin Mod 80 DL. Sadly the metal is pitted, rear peep is gone, front sight hood gone, gouge in the stock, etc, etc. I fitted an old rear sight and cleaned it up as well as I could.

Sir, step away from the toolbox!
Yes. A bolt action isn't as picky about feeding standard velocity or Quiet type ammo, IMO.
    Offers a lot of flexibility.
Never owned one of the real nice ones but even the cheap .22 bolt actions are fun to shoot.

    I have a
16” .223 bolt gun threaded for a suppressor. One day I’ll work up some subsonic centerfire loads for it. Quiet 77gr pills thump a bit more than 40gr 22lr subsonics.

When you do, send the formula my way. We have a mutual acquaintance that might enjoy some of those loads.

Yes. We have two bolt 22s, a Savage Mark II FV-SR and MM's old CZ 452 Scout. Y'all been mentioning one of MightyMouse's 3oz triggers, but I'm pretty sure the one he sold me is about half that. The Scout is the most fun I think I've ever had with a bolt gun.
I definitely plan on getting a CZ 457 when the price is right. Maybe a 455 as well.
Here's the Savage. Yeah it doesn't have that scope mount on there anymore, and it's definitely not a $250 rifle anymore, but we love it

Have multiple 22's but for accuracy you can't top a bolt action like a classic Springfield 1922, Anschutz 54 or a Winchester 52.
Saw a posting recently of an Anschutz at 100 yd. 10 shot .300 group.
When you look at Olympic 22 matches, bolt actions are the norm.
So yes a good bolt action is essential.
