One of those days.

Somebody dumped 7-10 dogs out near me on a state highway. Not real sure how many as they scattered when my dogs chased them off. I counted at least 5 or 6 running off into the field next door. Two more were hit by cars on the highway, I took care of getting them off of the pavement so they didn’t become smear marks.

What kind of person does that? They’ll be coyote bait. Take them to the pound or some rescue. pound so they can get starved and then euthanized.

People take them to the pound and they still get abused and die. Coyotes gotta eat too. The bigger problem is when these junk dogs attack livestock, good dogs, people, and damage a good working motor vehicle!

I have 2 dogs under my wellsite trailer house as we speak. No collars, tags or anything. One is a very gentle pit female and the other is a White faced Border Collie. very friendly dogs. This happens several times a yr and sometime someone will adapt them or we leave them behind. A few wells back it was a very small Corgi in the middle of nowhere. Again, no tags or any ID. We had kind of adopted her and was moving her with us and mader her the official rig dog. We moved about a mile and they forgot to get her and I was home on days off. Never seen her again. My son pickup 3 about dead in the ditch by San Angelo and took to the vet and spent $2000 grand gettting them shots, food ect. Got them back to good health and the little rascals found a porcupine and the vet wanted $3500 a dog! So the poor puppies were put down. Wish I had been around as I have had several bird dogs get porcupine and spend a few hrs pulling quills.

I'm also in the county but guess close enough to town that don't get many strays as they go on down the road. It does aggravate me though.
I'm not sure if criminal animal abandonment laws exist or might be construed as neglect but IMO, it's getting close to a cruelty act, which can be filed as a felony. Probably depends on investigating LE agency and local prosecutor as to how handled, based on evidence.
The irresponsibility of owners is usually where lotsa problems begin and end.
Again IMO, to properly care for any animal, requires a certain amount of time, money, etc. and if unable or not willing to provide this long past the cute little puppy stage, leave them alone.
This advice, along with Don't Do Drugs, Don't Drink or Text and Drive, Abstain From Unsafe Sex, etc, etc, etc. I'm sure will be strictly adhered to by everyone... :)
