well half of the country is on anti depressants. does this mean their gonna take away 50% of americans gun rights?

Not at this time.

After the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings, a federal law was passed to improve state reporting to the national database system and included those deemed by a judge to be mentally defective, mentally incompetent to stand trial, not guilty by reason of insanity or who've been involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

However, The Lautenberg Amendment was applied retroactively. It cost a lot of folks their gun rights and even their jobs. I'd be particularly wary of getting any prescription or note in your medical files that indicated any mental issue. Congress has a penchant for changing the rules in the middle of the game. :(
