So, if it is protruding from your home.. If you can adjust where the union sits, should it be at half of that? There would only be about 10" on either side of it.

The one I have has a thumb screw attached to a clip holding top ring of flag that enables sliding it up and down. When at half staff there is about a foot of pole above flag till noon then I raise it all the way to the end.
