Dang, it happened a year or two ago. Not sure exactly. It was NOT headline news @ the time. My guess, it’ll be tough to “Google” , the purchase is probably buried, “ Spiked” news.

Duck Duck Go is not affiliated with Google, Google just owned the duck.com domain, but not duckduckgo.com. DuckDuckGo has since bought duck.com, that might be the purchase you're thinking about, although it was more like 5-6 years ago.
