wow, I am shocked at the fact this thread has such long legs..... But more importantly that some people think the land onward in question is such a grumpy asswipe. I have a nice yard and I don't want people driving on it, or missing my driveway even and driving it. When someone works hard to fertilize and keep there yard looknf, nice they have a right to not want it to be destroyed. At least he asked nicely.... I mean it's like he kidnapped the kids from the school bus and too them to his secret bunker... lighten up... and keep or damn kids off my yard too!!! giggity!

If your grass is so delicate that a couple of kids playing on it will ruin it, it probably is not that healthy to begin with. I will put my yard and grass up in a "Pepsi Challenge" with anyone and my kids plus the neighbors are always running around on it.

The reason i was burned when the neighbor kids ran their bikes on my lawn :
Their dad just planted seed in his ..I just planted sod..The kids have a huge backyard(culdisac)
They were driving in everyone's yard but their own..I asked them to ride in their own yard..
They said no way dad would not let us...(dad was gone ..mom sits outside reading and lets them run wild)

We have a huge park across the street in a neighborhood so not a busy main street..there is a dry creek with jumps for the bikes...That is where my kids play....Their dad came home and they got it..not only for riding where they are not supposed to but for diggin up the yard with some gardening tools..they had a good size hole right on the border of my yard and his....I did not mind the hole as much as them ramping my curb into my yard and right across it.
Ramp your own curb.....
Heck on the other side of my yard the grass is solid..I have set the ramp there many times for all the kids and for me and the other fathers to jump...Good spot.
But not fresh laid sod...I asked them 3 times myself..told their mother once(useless) their dad got them out...

So not really crabby yard police as it is respect and a little common sense.
These kids always push their luck ..backtalk their mother ETC ETC.
They are good kids but need guidance..shoot a lot of hoops with them.one came over yesterday and rang the door bell and asked if i wanted to come out and shoot some hoops or play a game of horse...Mom wont do it she just sits there.
dad gets home near dark ...I turn on my flood light sometimes and we all play a game of horse...
So we ain't about the crabby...all the time...

Crap i wanted this to be short!

It's just grass. I live in the sod capital of the worlds and it appears that Bermuda is quite capable of taking care of itself. I'm disappointed that grown men are so concerned about their lawns that they would confront a neighbor and threaten to charge a pre-schooler with trespassing. By far the dumbest thing that I've ever heard of. I guess that I'm different because kids make me smile and grass is just grass.

A friend of mine was having similar issues with his next door neighbors. Except the kids were 16-20 and it was full size cars.
One or two would come home in the middle of the night and their driveway would be full. They would pull I across the entry of his driveway, across the "short side" of his lawn, and park I the front yard at their house.

Asking them to stop did not work. He placed a few landscaping rocks the size of large suit cases late one evening to finally put a stop to it. That night there was quite the commotion when three drunk brothers tried to get the lowered Honda civic off the rocks.

Please refer back to OP. These are 5-8 year olds (children) driving a battery powered Hot Wheel that weighs 15-20 pounds. Sounds like a single mother trying to raise them and the last stress she probably needs is the GOM (grumpy old man) next door threatening their lively hood (cops, trespassing, etc.) for playing on the short side of his yard.

People often wonder why this country is eroding into a cess pool. The OP gives us the perfect example of why the US is doomed. He, like yourself, is more concerned about his dormant Bermuda than the fact that he has the opportunity to help shape the lives of 2 kids. This country would be a whole lot better off if more people (parents too) took more time and effort to help shape the next generation! Plenty of negative influence in the world today, very little positive!
