I'm gonna "upper-deck" somebody, someday.

If he has "slowly learned it over the years", then you obviously started teaching the concept several years ago. That was the premise of my question. My next question would be, "If the parents refuse to teach it, then who?" I don't expect exceptionally young children to fully grasp the concept, but they should have some idea that destroying, ruining, or taking the property of others is wrong. My problem with this thread is that we have jumped on the OP for being "a bad neighbor" while completely alleviating the parent and the children of any responsibility for their actions or lack thereof.
Well the OP had an opportunity to teach the kids some respect, instead, he choose to go full retard and charge the little buggers with trespassing.
You can't expect to be respected when you're an ass.
I can't believe I clicked on this thread again...
While I agree that a trespassing charge for small children is overboard, is it really his responsibility to teach respect to the neighbor children? What about the parent? Any accountability there? The way I understand his post, he did go to the parent and voice his concerns to her and ask that she speak with her kids about it with no results. Only then did he threaten the trespassing charge.
