Ok. I know we have some very talented mechanics (professional and shadetree) on here. My question. A couple of days ago the Suburban (1999 K1500 5.7L motor) wouldnt start. A loud click but wont turn over. I take the starter off and take it to Auto Zone and have it tested. It tests good...three times. Drive gear kicks out and not pulling too many amps. So I bring it back home reinstall, and it starts...twice. Then the same loud click. I tried to loosen the starter a little...same result. Any ideas? Ive never run into this before and the only thing I can find online is the motor is frozen. That isnt it. Any ideas or suggestions are highly appreciated.

connections try jumping a wire from the battery directly to the starter (yes I know how big of a PITA this is)

other than that have you checked your battery or tried a different one? I've seen batteries cause a lot of funny issues and start a truck fine but not a car.

First: I AM NOT A MECHANIC, I just fix my own vehicles when I can, before I pay a mechanic.
It sounds like, the Battery Ground wire, or the ground wire on the Cylinoid(sp) is loose, or corroded where it can't get a good ground.

Well guys it isnt the battery. It lights everything up good on the dash and the headlights work fine. I jumped it just in case and it made no difference. Connections seem tight and fairly clean. Keep the ideas coming. Its got to be simple I would think.

It's the battery damnit! Seriously, have you had the battery tested, it can be so low on amps that it won't jump start.
