Harvesting okra seeds. This is star of David variety.View attachment 512144
My grandfather always grew this okra, he called it "African okra". A missionary their church supported brought some back and gave to him knowing he grew a large garden. Apparently it grew wild over there (wherever they were). I harvested his seeds when he passed and usually grow a little just to keep it going.

I started gardening 2 years ago to see if I could as the deer are thick around here. Found a way to keep them out that has worked two years in a row.

Funny thing is that I don't eat most of this stuff. I eat the cantaloupe, jalapeño peppers and green beans. The rest was given away to neighbors, at work, and would take baskets to the Emergency room nurses up the street.

Trying to decide if I'm going to do it next year as it's a lot of work. Would love to find a young family that doesn't have the land but wants to garden...
