Go ultra-light. 5' or 5' 6" rod. No more than 4 lb test.

This. I can't fly fish (yet) so I still use a spincast. I like the very light line. It shines for trout.

The only reason you'd want a heavier rig is if you needed to cast it a ways further up river a ways to let the bait/lure float back down. But then, I like fishing with waders and keeping things close enough to watch the fish strike. That's part of the fun of stream fishing IMHO.

Good ultra light spinning reel wound with 4# test, ad a 5-5.5 ft lt action spinning rod.

Pair of hemostats.

Your guide will have all the rest.

Have a good time, catch more than you keep, and don't set the hook. They ain't bass. If you hang the steel in their little ass, you'll rip the hooks right thru their mouths. They'll eat it, then you reel em in, you don't have to worry about much else.

You won't catch any of those in Arkansas, but that's what you're after, maybe a little bigger.

That is a Rio Grande Cutthroat, and yes, they all went back in the river. There aren't any stocked fish up where I caught those, just native Brook & Cutthroats.

Thanks for the help. Now let's hope it'll pull fish in the boat.

Going trout fishing next weekend and wanted some input.

Using a guide service so bait/lures aren't needed. Not an avid fisherman but been going on this trip for the last few years and have decided to stop borrowing other people's gear.
Looking for some advice on rod/reel spinning combo.
White river - northern Arkansas - never seen any fish much bigger than a few pounds.

The White River has produced several record trout in the 30 pound plus range. Arkansas waters have produced world record trout.

Didn't want ya to get drug in the river.:P

This time of year and where we'll be at we shouldn't have to worry about getting dragged over the edge.
