Do you use a thumb pick on it or not?
And good lord that AFEF boogie is hard. Any tips?

I've never used a thumb pick. When I was playing more, I just grew out my nails on my right hand.

The pinky-stand thing in the video is really annoying...

I was trying the thumbpick out yesterday. I've always used my fingers.

The pinky stand is called a "plant". A lot of fingerpickers do it, but they say you play better when you don't pick up that habit.
Obviously Tommy plants and I think Chet did too. So who knows...

Tommy is great.

I had the opportunity to watch this spectacle live in the front row a few years ago too when M Ward opened for Norah Jones at the PAC. It was truly an AMAZING thing to watch and hear. The place was dead silent as he went through it and then erupted in applause!
