According to 7.62x54.net there were no hex recievers dated 42.

I did see that comment on 7.62x54R.net, but if you go to the page with the pics of the receivers, here's what they say:

Izhevsk used many older receivers in the years immediately after WWI through the Russian Civil War and there seems to have been a limited use in 1931 with a few known examples from that year. Two 1942 Izhevsk M91/30s have recently surfaced but the heaviest use of older receivers seems to be in the later years of WWII.

So a '42 hex receiver would be a rare bird. If you had bagged one, you'd need to go buy a ticket for the $425M Powerball :wink2:

Ya probably so! I would like to find a hex M44 or M38.
