Yep I've come up on dogs with a hog bayed before and the hogs ears already torn off. Then you're in a pickle. Times like that is when you realize that having an RCD (running catch dog) may not be so much better than a catch dog you carry to the bay.
Ive never seen a pig loose its ears to a catch dog. Not saying it dont happen. But all my catch dogs have been lead in. This country here is too rough for a running catch dog. I have seen pigs that have had their ears cut off, nuts cut, and witters knocked out. Some people do this just to make dog killers out of them.
Well between the two of us we've seen it all I think! Lol
Sounds like it. I have seen some in a bay pen that would definitely loose them though. Just not in a hunting situation.
This one got to take a dirt nap yesterday.
I was invited by a friend to come and kill some pigs. We recovered 8.
I was driving home a few nights ago, looked like a dude in my neighborhood had a few yards of dirt delivered and dumped in his driveway... He was outside so I pulled up to offer my help with his project, it was a pile of hogs. 43 young and sows carved up over the next few hours. Earned myself some hot sausage.
Oh geeze! How many did yall butcher?
All 43. Took six of us about five hours.
