OK, if I understand the issue, at present some intangible personal property is currently being taxed. It's been that way for some time now, and currently there are some forms of intangible personal property that are not being taxed, but could be in the future. This state question would make it so that no intangible personal property at all would be taxed, including that property which is currently being taxed. Essentially, passing this state question would result in the elimination of a substantial portion of the state's tax base to ensure that potentially taxable intangible personal property is not taxed in the future - am I correct?

I assume it'd be asking too much to have a state question that exempts any intangible personal property not being taxed at this time...

Oklahoma never met a tax they didn't like, so long as they're the ones doing the taxing. I could see a real problem with uneven enforcement, jurisdiction and even what constitues taxable intangibles. What if the tax assessor says it's a taxable intangible, but the owner What's to stop companies from "offshoring" their intangibles with a post office box in another state, to register their intangibles where they're not taxed? What's to keep businesses from avoiding the tax by hiding the intangible assets? This is a very Obamaesque type of tax. I could see this having a negative impact on business in Oklahoma.

I don't have any taxable intangibles myself, but I do not support this particular tax either way.

What's your opinion on the SQ on the ballot, or do you just intend to disrupt the thread?

I will vote yes, I am a business owner, and I think it's pointless to have to pay tax on intangible goods, I pay over 35% in taxes and growing in my business.

From your original post, which to me sounded like your typical smart azzz response, how would you expect someone to not come back and say they bet you have never owned a business before?

That would have been my response 100%.

You obviously have no business experience. That's just an observation.

Your main experience IMO is to gouge into any OP's content, whether you have any clue or not, as to what you are saying, and try to irritate the poster, with meaningless rants, and whats the current saying?.. oh grasping for straws.

I myself love to get that from you, and invite it. It cracks me up to watch you try!!

Keep trying Brotha, I loves ya!!

So there's no current harm, you're just trying to prevent misuse of something that's coming down the line. Do you know for sure that your client lists will be taxed? What else will be taxed "for sure" in 2013? Is your county self-reporting like Oklahoma County?

And you're comfortable that they will be exempt for, say, $300,000 in digital inventory while someone with $300,000 in tangible property gets a tax burden?

Seriously? You sound like Nancy Pelosi with that line. "We have to pass it to know what's in it!" LOL

Ok guys my question is, from what I have seen, if this does pass property taxes will go up, also from what I have read it states in the constitution(Oklahoma's) what is exempt and so everything else is taxable. Can you tell me why I would want to pass this if everyone's property tax will go up. I also want to state with the way this thread is going, I am asking a legit question, no smart azz here.

I would not want to pay more taxes on ANYTHING.

I would think that would be the consensus, I would hope!

Seriously. When you're trying to convince someone to support you, it helps to articulate just how the new tax will be harmful.

That first post is the crux of the issue. Why do you think something that's worth money should not be taxed? Everything else follows from that.

Now a good discussion did follow from that, obviously you didn't read it or don't care. Just because I ask tough questions means I have no business experience.
They'll just get tougher from here.

I also want to state with the way this thread is going, I am asking a legit question, no smart azz here.

Expect to be attacked anyway.

I wasn't kidding about the fair tax issue. I actually don't know a lot about it but the scuttlebutt around this office is that it is good for all folks and great for businesses. Oh, and reddog1, were you kidding that no taxes are fair? Or that the fair tax is not fair. I really don't know enough about it. I'm search for info from the folks that do know about it...

Oh, and bootsbaker, I was kidding and did not intend to offend you man.
