just think how great it would be as an individual to go down the street and purchase a select fire current production small arm (U.S. or imported)!!! i wont get into what should the new law say etc, i just want the capability back without spending $3-33k.

anyone try their hand at it? i am gonna start with the local pro gun state reps (some of em were at cold hand arms grand opening and were allegedly receptive).

State can make full auto legal without going thru the feds and getting their permission till the sun goes down and it won't matter one bit.

Full Auto is federal issue. Gotta convince them if you're gonna get the law changed.

You've gotta a tough row to hoe ahead of you. Gotta respect a man willing to go down that path.

Good Luck to you in this endeavor.

I'd support it. I started a thread on AR-15.com about two years ago with the same intent in mind. I think I got about a dozen answers saying they would be in favor.

Good Luck

People have just resigned themselves to the fact that it ain't going to happen. I remember when you could do a form 1 and convert anything to Full Auto. Bush Senior stopped that.... the Dick Head!

That was Ronald Regan and the NRA. The FOPA of 1986 was a good piece of legislation for the gun owner except for the Hughes amendment that got tacked on at the 12th hour.

As debate for FOPA was in its final stages in the House before moving on to the Senate, Rep. William J. Hughes (D-N.J.) proposed several amendments including House Amendment 777 to H.R. 4332 [4] that would ban a civilian from ownership or transfer rights of any fully automatic weapon which was not registered as of May 19, 1986. The amendment also held that any such weapon manufactured and registered before the May 19 cutoff date could still be legally owned and transferred by civilians.

In the morning hours of April 10, 1986, the House held recorded votes on three amendments to FOPA in Record Vote No's 72, 73, and 74. The first vote involved the interstate sale of handguns and was Record Vote 72. The second vote was the controversial Hughes Amendment that called for the banning of machine guns. Despite an apparent defeat of the amendment by voice vote, Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), at the time presiding over the proceedings, declared the amendment approved despite the recorded vote clearly indicating otherwise. The vote was taken by electronic device, and there were: ayes 124, noes 298, not voting 12.[5] The Hughes Amendment regarding the banning of machine guns was defeated in Record Vote No 73. The bill, H.R. 4332, as a whole passed in Record Vote No: 75. Nevertheless, the Senate, in S.B. 49, adopted H.R. 4332 as an amendment to the final bill, which included the defeated Hughes Amendment. It was subsequently passed and signed on May 19, 1986 by President Ronald Reagan to become Public Law No 99-308, the Firearms Owners' Protection Act.

we need to write Sen. Tom Couburn. he is the only senator with the jewels to do something like that. He did it once with the concealed carry law in the national parks. Maybe he can do it again for us machine gun fans. keep in mind if this was to happen there will be another ammo shortage!:ooh2:
