GED, I agree with your statement regarding executing inmates in a more timely manner, only if the conviction comes with indisputable evidence. My wife was in the court room 2-3 years ago for a death sentencing for a man convicted of first-degree murder. It was obvious by many in the courtroom (based off facts, not emotions) that he wasn't guilty. If he was truly innocent, it's disgusting that we executed an innocent man. Not only for the obvious fact that he was innocent, but the family of his victim(s) only have a sense of justice based off a lie. Not only that, but the inmate's family is suffering the same way the victim's family is. If only he had more time...

Sorry to hijack MyMonkey, I didn't mean any disrespect. I may have more of a liberal heart than most here, but I still believe in eye for an eye. It doesn't matter if he gets 20 more years with 3-meals and hot showers or lethal injection tomorrow, the fact is that both options are too good for him and giving him such luxuries is an insult to your family. To take an adult's life is despicable enough, but children, too? I'm sorry your family has had to experience what happened and then get run through the wringer for this long waiting for justice. Words can't express my deepest condolences I have for you and your family, especially your brother and the grandparents of the two kids.

Your analysis is pertinent and highlights the flaws in our system of politically motivated actions veiled as justice. There are far too many cases where it is just a process where the parties go through the motions in a hollow attempt to put on a good show, knowing full well those charged with it are not actually looking for the truth, justice etc. There are also those cases where everthing is in place and there is no doubt in anyone's mind that this person is guilty. I was there for the trial and have kept tabs on the appeals etc. This was a slam dunk case. This jackass happened to get ahold of a smart lawyer and used depression and related medication to attempt a well planned appeal. Even after he had waived all other appeals! WTF? BS draggin this thing and the family through the mud.

Sidebar: We were the first case tried and convicted after the law went into effect allowing victims families to view the execution. I will be present.

IDK if they let you but you should bring in large photos of your sister and her kids. That scumbag needs those people to be the last thing he sees before he dies. My condolences to you.
