If you had a Henry 357/38 would you thread the octagon barrel or buy the new x w/threaded barrel?

I had one and I do not like threaded barrels but only because I do not thread stuff onto a barrel.
Just shoot it.
I wish my 15's did not have a threaded barrel.

Threading an octagon barrel on a lever action should be illegal... That's just sacrilege.

Big boy x 38/357 is awesome suppressed and hard to find. If you can only load yours via the tube, I wouldn’t think about threading it. Side gate loading is a must.

If its Henry factory threaded it will have a side gate, for the obvious reason as you pointed out.

No, that's probably a waste of time and money, and lets everyone know you're a bubba and they'll take extra care to make sure you don't go near their stuff. It's like school in the summer - no class.

Your latter choice would be what I'd do. Or get one of the newer Marlins or Chiappas that are already threaded also.

I had the Henry in hand at the gun counter.
Left instead with a stainless ruger 77/357
Cut the barrel to 16.5 and threaded 1/2x28.
Rotary mag is much easier to change than pushing rounds in a side gate IMO.

I had a Henry Golden Boy .357mag but, I didn't like the tube loading. I sold it and bought a stainless Rossi .357mag. Not as nice but, works and side loads.
