Need to lay off the MSNBC
If you would watch MSNBC, you'd know how Obama got elected twice and you'd see whats wrong with the GOP.
Need to lay off the MSNBC
I think it's the opposite. The GOP has some big mouthed ego maniacs who can't see past their own religious beliefs and have alienated important groups for GOP success. This last election demonstrates that fact.
"Binders of women and rape babies" just piss off women. Even the ones you see at praise and worship services.
So they are "conservatives", just not "strong" conservatives? I see this as the problem with the idea of being conservative. You either meet the criteria or you dont. The "strong" conservatives cannot get elected, due to the uncompromising, extremesist, radical nature of the far right on social issues.
The "regular" old conservatives, cant get elected due to the minority of the GOP labeling them as not being "strong" type conservatives. This "split" is why Dems dont have this problem in their party.
Next election will bear this out. Either the GOP will nominate a conservative and win or they'll trot out some far right nut or RINO and lose. The Dems will stick with whats worked for them, a liberal with a social agenda.

While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper's news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.
Of the 20 major media outlets studied, 18 scored left of center, with CBS' "Evening News," The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times ranking second, third and fourth most liberal behind the news pages of The Wall Street Journal.
Only Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and The Washington Times scored right of the average U.S. voter.
Five news outlets - "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer," ABC's "Good Morning America," CNN's "NewsNight With Aaron Brown," Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and the Drudge Report - were in a statistical dead heat in the race for the most centrist news outlet. Of the print media, USA Today was the most centrist.
Maybe Obama will completely eliminate the GOP in his 3rd (or 4th) term...problem solved.
