I think it's the opposite. The GOP has some big mouthed ego maniacs who can't see past their own religious beliefs and have alienated important groups for GOP success. This last election demonstrates that fact.

"Binders of women and rape babies" just piss off women. Even the ones you see at praise and worship services.

Go easy JB, reality of politics can get ya labled a communist, liberal Democrat. Too many confuse being conservative with being a Republican, with being a rah rah, by god, bible thumping, GOPer. If your not with us your a liberal enemy.

So they are "conservatives", just not "strong" conservatives? I see this as the problem with the idea of being conservative. You either meet the criteria or you dont. The "strong" conservatives cannot get elected, due to the uncompromising, extremesist, radical nature of the far right on social issues.

The "regular" old conservatives, cant get elected due to the minority of the GOP labeling them as not being "strong" type conservatives. This "split" is why Dems dont have this problem in their party.

Next election will bear this out. Either the GOP will nominate a conservative and win or they'll trot out some far right nut or RINO and lose. The Dems will stick with whats worked for them, a liberal with a social agenda.

You couldn't be more wrong. Neither Christie nor Powell are conservatives. They're RINO's and faux-conservatives. You cannot nominate a McCain or a Romney or a Christie or any "R" from a state with a strong liberal presence and win, because those who live in true conservative states see through them and reject them, regardless of what the mass media says. A Rubio-Jindal type ticket might work. They appeal to conservatives, ethnic groups and immigrants.

JB is on the right track. Regardless of religious leanings, any male Republican candidate (or female for that matter), needs to stay about a million miles away from any topic even remotely associated with a woman's vagina. That dog won't hunt. Besides, for true conservatives in the political sense, what in the world does that have to do with the good governance of the country? Not one single thing. What is so wrong with legislating from the Constitution and preaching from the pulpit, and knowing when to do each in their rightful turn?

The problem is not the GOP interfering in a woman's rights, it is that the lefties and media tie government funding to it, and many under informed fall for it. Sure there are a few screwballs but they are on both sides. The media just does not make a big thing of it when a lefty says something dumb.

This only matters if you believe the Democrats and/or Republicans are even relevant to who REALLY runs the .fedgov. Social Communists v. Fiscal Socialists. What's the difference?

You know what's funny, the people on here saying the GOP is too extreme right wing. Well, if they were any less right wing we would all be on here discussing which is the best air rifle caliber for hunting and self defense (that is if we could get a license to own an air rifle).

Media Bias Is Real, Finds UCLA Political Scientist

While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper's news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.

Of the 20 major media outlets studied, 18 scored left of center, with CBS' "Evening News," The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times ranking second, third and fourth most liberal behind the news pages of The Wall Street Journal.

Only Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and The Washington Times scored right of the average U.S. voter.

Five news outlets - "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer," ABC's "Good Morning America," CNN's "NewsNight With Aaron Brown," Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and the Drudge Report - were in a statistical dead heat in the race for the most centrist news outlet. Of the print media, USA Today was the most centrist.

So if you believe FOX news is far right then it is probably just because you are far to the left of FOX.
