Over the last 14 years, I have found two or three mylar balloons on our hunting property. I always thought this was interesting and always wonder where they come from.
Yesterday afternoon after hunting I was checking a few of my camera cards and found another one. This one looked fresh and was all tangled up in small tree. I cut it down and this one was really sad and to be honest, I don't know how to feel about it. It was written in Spanish so I had to send a photo to my wiz-bang son to have it translated. Here is what the balloon said translated to English, with the names removed to respect the privacy.
Side one
It had a large cross drawn on it with the writing: "I love you - (name of a girl)"
Side two
Written: "RIP (full name) I miss you so much, Dad. You are deeply missed. You will always be in my heart. I love you forever, my dear father!!! Sending you lots of kisses!!!"
Gosh, this ripped my heart out after my son translated it for me. I tried to find out how far these balloons fly but there are so many variables, no one really knows. I looked in the Oklahoma obituary search and could not find anyone with the name. My point is, no clue where it came from and not sure if local or not.
Anyway, not sure what to think other than I ask that if you are a spiritual person to pray for this girl for peace on the loss of her father. Obviously it has been hard on her.
