Can't argue with any of that...just answering your question as to why some people feel a connection.

Perceptions are reality for most people.

I think a fundamental stumbling block between the two sides represented by TK/Henschman and SMS/UMB is our position on whether or not to remain isolationist or practice engagement in matters of alliances. Regardless of what arguments are made by either side, that one issue is the prism by which each view is seen.
Of course there are the anti jew and the pro jew factions which raise their head on occasion, but that is a whole 'nuther bag of worms which doesnt do anything but inflame the situation.
I too understand the argument in favor of fighting the oppression by Israel. I also believe that Israel has very little choice in the matter if they intend to survive themselves. This is coming from someone who supported the Chechen fight for independence from Russia before the former resorted to killing school children as an acceptable tool of war making. Had the Russians strapped those kids to a tank or placed them in "internationally recognized" neutral places to protect Russian arms and fighters, then all bets are off. But that isnt what happened.
Coupled with the similar notions of those Islamic fighters with the operatives in Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, etc. in which they have declared war on the United States and Israel then it isnt unreasonable to want them controlled.
As to the PA/Hamas v. Israel solution. What do you think is a reasonable solution to the issue that would promote a peaceful resolution?

The whole peaceful solution is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. IOW, it's never gonna happen. The PA/Hamas groups of the world only understand one thing. Killing your enemy. They don't want to live side by side with them, they want them just GONE. That's what everybody needs to understand.

We're damned if we do and damned if we don't. There will never be peace in the ME, so long as humans roam the planet.

With that truth in mind, my preference is we do that thing that keeps the most of our GDP and American lives here in the U.S. :anyone:

Probably not gonna be one.
There's very few square inches of this Earth that folks haven't won the right to occupy by killing the previous inhabitants. We did it to the Indians, the Indians did it to each other, Europeans did it for centuries...nothing new.
IMHO we have had these Arab countries declare war on us along with Israel for being the arms supplier in the Israeli war to hold the piece of land that the Palestinians occupied until recent history.
The Palestinians aren't going to forget, and Hamas (or whoever's next) will continue to fight as long as they are capable.
It's not our fight, but our entanglement in it continues.

Well here is a solution

An Israeli official has called for concentration camps in Gaza and ‘the conquest of the entire Gaza Strip, and annihilation of all fighting forces and their supporters’.

Moshe Feiglin, Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Knesset and member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling Likud Party, posted the inflammatory message on his Facebook page at the weekend.

He lays out a detailed plan for the destruction of Gaza - which includes shipping its residents across the world - in a letter he addressed to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The message, which received more than 2,000 likes on his page, lists four action points which he wants to be enforced as soon as possible.

Feiglin details the first one as 'defining the enemy' and states: 'The strategic enemy is extremist Arab Islam in all its varieties, from Iran to Gaza, which seeks to annihilate Israel in its entirety. The immediate enemy is Hamas. (Not the tunnels, not the rockets, but Hamas.)'

He says another important part of his plan is the 'conquest of the entire Gaza Strip, and annihilation of all fighting forces and their supporters.'

He lays out a detailed plan for the destruction of Gaza - which includes shipping its residents across the world - in a letter he addressed to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Gaza war, now in its fourth week, has left more than 1,800 Palestinians dead.

Feiglin details how he wants the Israeli PM 'to turn Gaza into Jaffa, a flourishing Israeli city with a minimum number of hostile civilians.'

In 1948 Jaffa was a Palestinian town but there was an exodus of most of its Arab population when it fell to the fledgling Israeli army and right-wing Jewish militias.

In the letter he expresses his desire for the IDF to find areas on the Sinai border to establish 'tent encampments...until relevant emigration destinations are determined.'

He says that the supply of electricity and water to the Gaza would be disconnected before being 'shelled with maximum fire power.'

Feiglin explains how the IDF would then 'exterminate nests of resistance, in the event that any should remain.'

Part of his plan includes shipping the people living in Gaza across the world.

He says to encourage the movement those who willingly agree to emigrate will be given 'a generous economic support package.'

But those who resist leaving their home will be required to publicly sign a declaration of loyalty to Israel, and receive a blue ID card similar to that of the Arabs of East Jerusalem.

Then Israeli law will be extended to cover the entire Gaza Strip and 'the city of Gaza and its suburbs will be rebuilt as true Israeli touristic and commercial cities.'

Feiglin’s Facebook page is verifiable as it is linked from his official page on the Knesset website.
