Humm....stating the facts from experiences others have had. .

I'm a retired court services officer from Alaska. Sat through jury voir dier in well over 200 trials. I've never seen someone automatically disquailified for service based on their occupation. Seen all types of people from every walk of life serve on juries, doctors, lawyers, cops, cooks, roofers, teachers, mechanics, plumber and housewives. The process of jury selection is very dynamic. It may not appear that way but once you've sat through these and watched the verbal and nonverbal interactions between the attornies you understand what is going on.

Hope that you get picked. It's a wonderful civic experience.

I would not try to get out of jury duty. And I don't consider myself "too stupid to get out of it."

And I dislike them having wifi or allowing smartphones/laptops. Seriously? The people who are deciding guilty / not guilty are reading the sports page and facebook while your life's fate is in the balance?

Wow.

The wifi, smart phones/laptops, books are while you are waiting to be picked for a jury. It could take a few hours to all week. Just depends. I was lucky enough to be picked for jury duty and on a trial last January. I found it very interesting. I do not understand why any one would not want to be on jury duty

Being a psychologist, I have virtually no chance serving on a jury. The attorney's are way too uneasy seeing someone like me evaluating tactics and fear of toying with jury dynamics. Kind of sad not to even have an option to serve (for the most part) :bolt:

Same situation with me.

Had an Uncle who was a DA down in TX in McAllen and later Liberty. He told me I'd never serve on a jury. Military service and my civilian career in management and as a financial analyst tends to turn off the defense. He said DA's wouldn't have a problem with me but the defense usually would.

He'd usually go on to say that even if the defense didn't have an issue with me that I'd probably voice an opinion one way or another that would tick of the DA's too.

In short as much as I'd like to serve on a jury it doesn't seem it will ever happen.
