If we are ever going to get past all this "race" stuff. The Media and the Democrats have to quit stirring the pot every chance they get. "Black Oklahoma man faces 1st-degree murder charge after killing white alleged burglar." The race of the shooter, and the burglar have absolutely no impact on this. The only question should be. Was it a justified shooting? From the article I would say probably not, but can we really expect the Media to tell the truth?

You have to ask yourself, what would you have done? If you would not have shot, then is Bratcher guilty? If you would have shot, is he innocent?

case law in Oklahoma has proven, I believe, that merely trying to gain access to a prohibited place is grounds for self-defense. Others have been shot through a door and been upheld as self-defense.

This is a tough one. Depends on who is on the jury and how they see it. I could see if going either way. Have to go sit for it to play out. Could I convict based upon the few known facts? I don’t know if I could.

Do I think that the DA/just us system is double slapping him since his business license lapsed to set an example for anyone else considering the same thing? Absolutely they are sending a strong message. But when you agree to play in the game and “their system”, you’d better know and FOLLOW their “rules”.

Agreed. That's why it seems clear to me that they do NOT want to get past the 'race stuff'. It's a powerful and profitable tool for some and a wonderful virtue signaling opportunity for others.

They are not "supposed" to have an impact on this. Whether this situation would have played the same way if the races were reversed is highly questionable in my mind. Whether the DA would have tried to string the guy out as an example in the same way, whether the DA would have upgraded charges when he didn't agree to a plea deal. Those are all tactics that have historically been used on some races more than others.

The elites can do their evils while the rest of us argue with each other.

I've often jiggled doors to determine if a business was open or not. I'm sure we all have.

If the lights were on (and especially if the guy was high), he may have been doing the same thing.

FWIW, I wouldn't even want to shoot someone jiggling the front door to my home. :anyone:

You ever go jiggle a door at 1 am for the second night in a row?
On May 27, 2020, around 1 a.m., Bratcher was at the grow operation warehouse when Daniel Hardwick, a 42-year-old white man, allegedly attempted to break into the business for the second consecutive night. Video from that night reportedly shows Hardwick park his car at the rear of the shop, walk to the business’s door and jostle with the door handle, attempting to gain entry.

Not that I recall. :P

Quite possibly checked some eateries late at night after an evening of drinkin' though. If the guy was high, he might not have even remembered doing it the previous night.

If someone jiggled my door I would take cover and prepare to shoot. If they came thru the door I would shoot. There have been a couple times in my life I have had people jiggle the door. Most times have been children screwing around or running ahead of their parents. I will wait until I can see who I am shooting.

All just based on the snippets we know, but for me, justification here will hinge on announcements made by both sides, if any. Did inside guy announce his presence? If so, and the outside guy tried to gain entry, he opted into the game. I still think shooting through a closed door is going to be pretty tough to justify without some extenuating circumstances.
