Not a movie as such, but some good series on the History Channel, like WW2 In HD, Vietnam In HD, Men Who Built America, etc. Saw some laughed at Forrest Gump, but they did include a wide swath of events in one movie, one just might have to delve into them more independently to cut out the "Gump angle" 🤣

Master and Commander isn't a true story, but it's an accurate and historical telling of naval life in the 19th century.

Hornblower (British mini series) was surprisingly good too, in a time of naval war with Napoleon. It's on YouTube, but have to VPN to a british commonwealth to snag it for free.

Bridge of Spies - based on the true story.

Thor has been in a handful of true historical movies.

12 Strong -about the first boots on the ground in Afghanistan. Not bad.

Rush - drama between European race car drivers.

In the Heart of the Sea - true story that inspired the story if Moby Dick. Stellar flick.

Ford vs Ferrari - I thought it was hilarious, watching motorheads wildcat a supercar together.

The Last Samurai - based on the true story, only it wasn't an American soldier, it was a Frenchman in real life. Top tier flick.

Seven Samurai - original story of the magnificent seven, based on a story believed to be real.

47 Ronin - a true story, but embellished with Japanese sci-fi that made it's way into the true tale of honor and revenge.

I watch too many movies, but only because there isn't a single tv show worth watching aside from Modern Marvels and How It's Made lol
