Max mag length in Limited?

So I've read through the IPSC rulebook and wasn't able to find the answer. The rulebook talks about Open, STANDARD, etc... but not Limited. I'm trying to determine if I can use 170mm magazines, or if that's only in Open and I'm limited (ha, pun totally intended!) to 140mm in the Limited division.

140 is the max in Limited, 170 is for open

Read the USPSA rule book. That is what we use here for the majority of matches. IPSC and USPSA have different rules.

But to answer your question 140mm is the max length for limited division.

Thanks, guys... that's what I though, but wanted to make sure. I almost bought mag extensions for 170mm (at $50/ea!). I'm glad I didn't.

The appendixes are part of the rules, common error not to catch that little nuance. Lots of short quick info in them.

Appendix D2 on pg 72, item #8: "Maximum magazine length 141.25 mm . . . "

170mm maximum applies to Open, as listed in Appendix D1.

When you join the USPSA and they will send you your very own rule book. It's pretty handy. In case you didn't know the USPSA is the American section of the IPSC.

You can use 171.25mm mags in limited if they are single stack. Although I've yet to figure out why anyone would.

And if I am not mistaken, limited can be 141.25 from the very base of the base pad to the top of the rear of the magazine measured from the side.
