I am a specialist but their have been no mandates of certain questions being asked of my patients. There are also no reporting requirements. I ask people about guns and shooting and hunting all the time in my clinic, but it's just because I like it. None of it goes in any kind of record unless the firearm was the cause for their visit, (like shooting your own foot, which I've seen 2 of in 5 years here. Also one self inflicted shot to the hand).

It was on an information form at my regular doctor's office a few years ago I just ignored it. When you lift your shirt and your doctor sees a holster he isn't stupid. I usually keep the pocket pistol on me though. I don't want to alarm him.

So I went to my specialist the other day and had to have a prostate exam, his building isn't posted so I went on in with my XD under my shirt in it's IWB holster. He told me to turn around, drop my pants, grab the exam table, and bend over. Well of course that necessitated removing my gun so I placed it on the table in front of me. Doc looked me in a shocked manner and asked what the gun was for. I told him it was in case I felt a hand on each shoulder at the same something bumped my prostate!
