"There are a number of factors that contribute to that, including human activity. The question is, what are we going to do about it and at what cost?"

An "admiission"......lol. Yes, we have an impact, but we don't know to what extent. 10%, 1%, .0001%, etc. There are things we could do to not pollute the air as much, but what impact will that have and at what cost(as Thune said). IF we only affect 1% of the climate change, is it worth it to spend billions of dollars to reduce that percentage?

CO2 ? Naturally occurring part of the atmosphere.
Pollutants from chemical processes, are man made and controllable.
Percentage? Who knows are can say positively? NOBODY!
What about what is being spewed from volcanic activity? Maybe goobermint should look into capping off volcanoes and filtering those emissions.

Is it worth not spending more than what would be needed when it is uncertain how much is actually needed. Seems like spending too much is not as big of a problem as spending too little.

Oh yes, I agree completely. If a dog has enough ticks dug in, they will suck it dry.

I will amend my prior statement to include the idea of water use per person. If the amount of water used per person is high, then fewer people will be sustained by this limited resource. If water use per person is low, then more people will be sustained by this limited resource (relatively speaking of course).

Look into "The tragedy of the commons" - Garret Hardin 1968 Ecologist.
