OP don't listen to the people trying to out-geek each other. If your data are valuable enough to need a complex backup system, you can probably afford to pay someone to design it for you.

Get a RAID enclosure. Burn important stuff to DVD periodically. Keep the DVDs in a safe or your bank safety deposit box or something if you want to be extra safe.

What about SSDs? No moving parts on them. :P

Dustin is right! Solid state for teh win.

You can buy an 32 GB SDHC card for $85. Next year, they'll be handing them out in boxes of cereal.

I think the theoretical maximum for SD form factor storage is 2TB, so it is just a matter of time...
