I used to listen to Bruce Williams on the radio back in the 80s. One of his quotes he used to always say has stuck with me and is: "the cheapest isn't always the least expensive".

Don't go cheap on insurance coverage. Now I am not saying pay way more than others but I would suggest a company that if things go wrong, you can walk into an office and get it addressed. Some of these lower costs carriers are that way for a reason. Just my thoughts.

I had Progressive when a deer took out my beloved Nissan Sentra,,,
Unfortunately it was in the middle of the COVID shutdowns.

Not having an "agent" who I could see in person was a huge bummer,,,
Everything had to be done by fax, phone, and e-mail,,,
It took almost 2 months but I finally got a check.

It was a reasonable settlement as well,,,
Of course more money would have been better,,,
But after talking to several other people I was satisfied with the amount.

After that no agent experience,,,
I decided to go with a local Allstate agent,,,
I knew I would pay higher premiums but wanted an agent.

They have raised my premium every 6-months thereafter,,,
After 2 years I'm paying 153% of what it started.

As soon as I can locate and lock down a live Progressive agent,,,
I'm switching back to them for their lower rates.

I have until May to find one,,,
I just haven't looked seriously as yet.

EXACTLY why we are moving on from Allstate! One year increase alone was 19% and we had 0 claims. We have a "live" agent locally but all claims go through an online form or a 1-800 #. For 2 small auto claims and our really big home claim from hail damage, we spoke to our local agent ONCE - when she said it's all done online and gave us the URL. We're in the process of getting over to another carrier and likely it's Progressive.

HAD Progressive for 1 year, 1 small claim. They can KMFWA. Never again.

Switched to Travelers, been extremely satisfied. Checked premiums with Liberty Mutual. Travelers beat them.

I have had more than one insurance company for house and auto over many years. I have filed very few claims but you really don't know how good a company is until you get a claim. Allstate screwed me over about 45 years ago on an auto claim and I get the heaves every time their name is mentioned. The best company I ever had and taken care of when a claim was made was Guide One.....but they pulled out of the Oklahoma market. I'm with Farm Bureau and Progressive now but have yet to have a claim.....staying puckered.

Like the attorney ad on TV....insurance companies are in the business of Keeping your money.
