Got a rock river free float tube im trying to remove for a quad rail and this thing is way tight. Tried heating it up and using strap wrenches and only broke one of the strap wrenches. I have not worked on enough of these things to feel comfortable doing this so if someone could lend a helping hand or know someone to direct me to that would be great.
Did you loosen the barrel nut? If so, make sure there aren't any set screws on the bottom of the handguard. Also, if you use a receiver block and vise, it makes everything a lot easier.
There are no set screws on this free float just a jam nut at the back with three slots around it. Was using a vice with the block that goes inside the receiver but would be more comfortable with the clamp type tool. Barrel nut has not been loosened
Sorry, I meant jam nut, not barrel nut!
When in doubt, use a bigger hammer.
