He's calling it a mouse. AND they stop stinking long before they "disappear". I had this problem years ago. I picked up a hot chick for a hot date and I explained that the smell would go away soon enough. It did, in fact, go away, but not before she did.

Paint thinner is cheaper.

Old fashioned spring loaded mouse trap baited with peanut butter. It'll bring the mouse out and terminate with extreme prejudice.
