i would recommend using a patent lawyer.... i have one that has submitted a couple of patents for me and i can get you his info if you need it... if this really is going to be "big" then don't try to do the patent yourself....

The C.I.A and Secret Service can have MP5s, Uzis, FN PS90s, Glock 18s, short barrel M-16s or anything else they want. Not to be negative, but you really think you can invent a gun that will not only compete with these, but out perform?

I have a few questions...
You mention you have
an industrial background
......so are you saying you have a degree or specialized training in strength of materials or engineering?

You also seem to have a disdain for .556 and the M4 when you say"
(God help us all, I’d really like something with a little more knock down but it needs to fit the NATO regs as to grab the widest market base. So what are you gonna do)."
and
I think, would deliver more velocity within each round due to the longer barrel, than current competitors on the mkt. to date, (mp5, sp89, ANY M4, mp7, p90, Uzi ect. ect. ect.)
Does this opinion come from your military service/combat experience?

You also mention your propensity to require cofidentiality.....
I know I have been extremely vague but to protect my intellectual properties I must
and
Provided N.D.A. are signed and notarized
Does this business knowledge come from specialized business training or legal education? It seems a wise inventor would have patent protection in place before divulging key concepts on a public forum.

I would appreciate your response so I can make an informed decision about my investment involvement. Thanks

Not only yes but shoot yes. Untill the KRISS there has been nothing truely new infirearms since John M. Browning. Do I compare myself to J.M. Browning (Lord no) but I do hope My design will be the next true innovation in firearms history

Just playing devils advocate here and helping you to think about things...

KRISS came up with a way to reduce felt recoil and improve accuracy in full auto by also reducing barrel creep with their design.

It sounds to me like you have a design that uses the butt of the weapon as a way to buffer the recoil perhaps similar to the way the KRISS does it but you'll have to have some other type of feed mechanism perhaps a horizontal magazine on top with a lower barrel design? For it to be 30" overall and 20" of barrel, you're going to only have 10" of action, feed, firing and butt.

My question would be why maintain the 20" barrel if your main goal is concealability? The velocity improvement won't be enough in my mind to outweigh maneuverability. 30" is a lot of stiff metal to try and get in and out of a vehicle with while still concealing.

Similar to the kriss only in the aspect that the firing system is totally unconventional, No requirement for the barell to be long , just the availibity for a longer barell yet still maintaining total concealitility. I could get almost 40" of concealable overall length on my person, not that there is a need for it almost 40", but 16" or 18" ?? I could very well see where there could be a mkt for that.
