I'm needing to get my whole system replaced in my house. I already have half the $$ from the insurance company. Just wanted to know if any heat&air guys on here can give me a bid over PM or phone for what the insurance company is paying to replace the unit. Looking for reputable company with a warranty. I have the line item details of what is getting replaced, just need to find a company that won't over charge me. Thanks

Dude, get several estimates. Right now, PSO is offering an instant rebate, and you also get a tax credit of up to $1500. The tax credit works to reduce your tax liability and can increase your refund.

Any estimate will depend upon the brand of equipment and size of the unit.

A four ton unit, for example (like for a 2000 sq ft home) is around $6900. That's for heating and air. That's before any adjustments to your taxes or your income.

I already received one estimate, and they charged me a service call for it! And they wanted more then the insurance company and would not budge on their bid. Thats why I'd like some bids over the phone or PM, so I don't have to pay service call fees just for bids.

You can't really give an accurate bid without looking at the job. I have never worked for a company that charged for an estimate. Call the company, tell them you want a replacement estimate and ask if there is a charge if so move on to the next.
There are 2 companies I can reccomend Mainard & Sanders and Drabek & Hill.
Both will give you a free estimate Drabek will not be cheap but they will do an awesome job (Mark the install managers favorite line "if it aint perfect you aint done") and the phone will be answered 24/7.

This is what I thought too. I had one company come out and write the bid. They said if I went with them they'd roll the service call into the estimate. But they wouldn't come around the price of state farm's payout, plus they wouldn't discuss the details of their prices with my agent to see if state farm missed something in their estimate. So I said no to that company and received a bill for a service call.

That sounds shoddy. But, you can't get a reasonable estimate without them physically examining the property. They've got to be able to see if you've got adequate ductwork, etc.

Call some reputable HVAC companies, like Carrier or Trane dealers, and tell them you want an estimate, but that you're not willing to pay for a service call.

It just sounds like the first guys are running a scam HVAC operation. As in, trying to coerce you into buying a unit from them.
