You can shoot at 9x at 100 yards too for precision work ya know.
I have put 1000's of rounds under both P-223 scopes. I think if you really won't be shooting past 100 yards the 3X Carbine scope would serve your needs well. That being said, take a look at Nikon's M-223 1-4 Point Blank Reticle. One of my favorite scopes and one I used in carbine competition's until I tried the compact 3X scope. Zero the 1-4 at 100 yards and you are ready to go. Very clear low profile scope for not much more money then the P-223 3-9 I believe. If you do opt for the P-223 3X carbine scope you will need a 2 piece mount, check out Nikon's P-Series 2 piece AR mount, perfect for this compact optic. Will also work well with a full size scope too. If you want to punch small groups at 100 yards go for the 3-9, if you're going to shoot reactive target's check out the 3X or M-223 1-4.
