Glad you can say you didn't die. You can take these apart, but you have to be careful. I just removed 10 from a cordless vacuum found on the side of the road with no splosions or fires. Did have a few sparks, though... I used needle nosed pliers to get the connectors separated from the battery. Grabbed the metal tabs near the spot weld and carefully rolled them off. Was trying to save the board, but my pliers shorted to it and burned a spot.

Definitely punctured one of the cells.

I use to open these rechargeable battery packs all the time and test the cells and keep the good cells.
I use to have several hand held flashlites that would work with these batteries.
typically the battery packs go bad with usually 2 cells dieing.
i use to have a cigar box full of them. I have pretty much given most away.

Thought it was a good idea to dismantle a big Milwaukee M18 battery. As I was taking it apart it shorted out and became a flame thrower. Luckily I got it outside before any major damage was done.

Please, oh, please do it again. Missed the first smooth move. I'm a trauma junkie. Don't want you to get hurt, but when you do, I WANT TO BE THERE!!!!!
